Chill Cleithe N.S.
This is a picture of our school. It is situated about 4 miles outside Moate off the main road to Athlone. It is a small country school with 4 main-stream teachers, a full time S.E.T and a shared S.E.T. Our school was built in 1951. There are 108 pupils enrolled this year.
Ms. Mary O’ Connell is the principal and teaches junior and senior infants. Ms. Maureen O’Neill teaches first and second class. Ms. Sheila Martin teaches third and fourth class. Ms. Michelle Bradley teaches fifth and sixth class. Ms. Helga Leslie is our Special Ed teacher. Ms. Moran is our part-time Special Ed teacher shared with Clonbonny N.S.
We welcome Ms. Eimear Kehoe who is currently subbing for Ms. O’Connell.
S.N.A. Staff
Nicholas Mvula (Nico) and Ilona Kulinska-Puda are our part-time S.N.A.s.
We are very lucky also to have teachers who come every week to coach us in various sports.
Alan Mullen comes Wednesday mornings to coach football. He trains every class.
On Thursday afternoons 1st-6th class have cricket training with Bernard O’Mara from Athlone Cricket Club.
In the first term of each New Year we have 8 swimming lessons – pupils from 1st to 6th class take part in these sessions. We hope to do this again in 2022.
We also have Zumba classes with Nico throughout the year.
Playtime
We are lucky to have a large yard with our own basketball court and football pitch. There is a wooded area at the rear of the school through which flows a stream, so we are surrounded by nature. The church is across the road from us and people in our school are given a chance to serve Mass.
Computer Room
We have 10 computers & 10 laptops and an Interactive Whiteboard in each classroom which the teachers find are an invaluable source of instruction. This year we have invested in iPads. We hope you will get a chance to see us show off our skills on our school website.
