4th, 5th and 6th class students were very fortunate to have Professor Michael Redfern from the Centre of Astronomy, School of Physics, NUIG, come to our school last week to speak with them about our solar system. The children heard all about ‘the world’s biggest eye in the sky’, an extremely large telescope that is currently being constructed and is expected to come into operation in 2015-2020 time frame. Maybe one day a student of Castledaly will study Astronomy in NUIG.
